New smartphones come out every month. There are some nice ones, some terrible ones, and some fantastic ones that anybody who is anybody should buy immediately. Much like how 2012 had its fair share of amazing phones like the Nexus 4, Samsung Galaxy S3, and the iPhone 5, 2013 should be fun to witness as well.
If your contract is set to expire within the next year, here are five smartphones that you’ll want to know about:
Samsung Galaxy S4
You knew that Samsung couldn’t let its arch nemesis Apple come out with another phone without having its own come out around the same time.
Besides, the S3 came out many months ago. It’s time to re-up!
There are no official spec sheets to look at, nor are there any photos of it, but we can speculate that it’ll have a quad-core Exynos processor, quad-core GPU, 2 GB of RAM, and a 5-inch display. Whether it’ll be 1080p remains in question.
iPhone 5S
Apple releases new phone models every six months, and since the iPhone 5 was already the blockbuster move of late, the 5S will be released in typical fashion.
There will certainly be better internal specs, but we should also see an NFC chip this time around, and possibly even 2 GB of RAM.
We should also see a new version of iOS and Apple Maps as well.
Microsoft Surface Phone
Microsoft doesn’t like the idea of Google and Apple having its own branded products, so it only makes sense.
With the release of the Surface tablet that took the world by storm, a Surface phone would put the Windows 8 platform directly into the hands of Microsoft, giving it free reign to craft the perfect smartphone.
It’ll come with at least a 4.7-inch display, and maybe even a 5-inch display. No details as of yet have been released.
Sony Xperia Yugo
How about a 5-inch 1080p display, 1.5 GHz quad-core S4 Pro proc essor, 2 GB of RAM, LTE, NFC, a 2,400 mAh battery, all packed into a dust and water resistant body? That’s what the Yugo brings to the table.
Sony is set to bring this to play sometime in Q1 of 2013.
Sound good? Does to me, too!
